Did you know that near Lucerne, the most beautiful glasses and bottles were blown a long time ago?
The glassbläser came from Germany to Entlebuch. When they had cut down many forests, they were driven out. And so they moved on to Hergiswil. For many years, various objects were made of glass. Today the Glasi Hergiswil is a museum in which people still work as in ancient times. And they can be right there and watch the professionals at work. A very fascinating craft.
The museum educates them about the past of glass blowing in the region. But also for children there are other great attractions, such as the glass ball train or the mirror labyrinth.
Unfortunately, the Glasi is a bit cumbersome to reach by public transport, even if the museum is less than a 5-minute walk from Hergiswil train station. The boat station is also very close. If you like it more comfortable, you can drive by car directly in front of the museum – but be careful, through Lucerne there can also be traffic jams.
